About us
Brave Hearts Foundation is an established national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities to reach their full potential.
Through years of practical experience across Uganda, we have learned that the most sustainable path to community development is strengthening existing local structures and transforming them into functional, resilient, and thriving communities. This approach strengthens individuals, empowers households, and builds systems that last beyond project timelines. Our model is transformative, measurable, proven, and scalable.

A Glimpse of how we transform communities
Briquettes for Development
With funding support from JAC Trust, Brave Hearts Foundation empowered 130 women in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement and host communities in Kamwenge District to become champions of environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods through fuel briquette production.

The project directly addressed the growing environmental degradation caused by overreliance on charcoal and firewood for cooking. By equipping women with practical skills to produce affordable, clean-energy briquettes, the initiative contributed to reduced pressure on forest resources, improved household energy sustainability, and strengthened climate resilience within both refugee and host communities.
In addition to environmental impact, the project delivered measurable socio-economic outcomes. Participants gained income-generating skills, enabling them to produce and sell briquettes to support their households. The inclusion of financial literacy and business management training strengthened women’s capacity to manage income, grow small enterprises, and improve long-term financial stability.
Through this intervention, Brave Hearts Foundation not only promoted environmental protection but also advanced women’s economic empowerment, community resilience, and sustainable development in one of Uganda’s largest refugee-hosting districts.

Promoting Micro Enterprises-PROMIC
In 2023, Brave Hearts Foundation launched the PROMIC Uganda Project, funded by Foundation Open Hand – Swiss Hand (Switzerland). The project is designed to deliver measurable and sustainable economic empowerment outcomes for vulnerable women in rural Uganda.

PROMIC Uganda targets women living in poverty who demonstrate entrepreneurial potential and willingness to engage in income-generating activities. The project applies a structured empowerment model that combines capacity building, financial literacy, business management training, and access to micro-credit, ensuring that beneficiaries are equipped with both knowledge and financial resources to succeed.
The overall objective is to create sustainable pathways out of poverty by strengthening women-led micro and small enterprises, improving household incomes, and enhancing financial independence. By investing in women, the project generates multiplier effects that contribute to improved family welfare, children’s education, and community economic stability.
